Oreo McFlurry – United States

Oreo Mcflurry
It’s the 4th of July and America is celebrating their independence from the British Empire. Since red, white & blue seem to be the only appropriate colors today, I don my stars spangled swim trunks and join the celebrations. The fact that I am not American, but Dutch, does not seem to temper the mood. We Europeans are more than welcome to celebrate the birthday of “the world’s greatest nation”.

But what would America’s birthday party be without dessert? And what would be a better dessert than an all American Oreo McFlurry? Oreo Cookies originated in the US and have been around since the early 20th century (1912 to be precise), which make them an American staple in my book.

The Oreo McFlurry is a classic. No one can argue the fact that ice cream and chocolate are an excellent combination. The texture of the crushed Oreo cookies blends perfectly with the ice cream’s, resulting in a full chocolate flavored ice cream with just a slight crisp. In short: if you like both chocolate and ice cream, this Mcflurry is the perfect choice for you. I’m Lovin’ it.
